Three practical ways to open your NOMAD box

Use the setup that matches where the appliance is running: directly on the box, through an existing local network, or through the NOMAD hotspot when no router is available.

Kiosk mode

Use this when a monitor, keyboard, and mouse are connected directly to the appliance.

  1. Plug a monitor into the NOMAD box.
  2. Connect a keyboard and mouse.
  3. Power on the NOMAD box.
  4. Project NOMAD should open automatically in kiosk mode.

If kiosk mode does not open automatically, open a browser on the NOMAD box and use the local address.

Home or local network

Use this when the NOMAD box is plugged into your router or another trusted local network.

  1. Connect the NOMAD box to the router with Ethernet.
  2. Connect your phone, tablet, or computer to the same local network.
  3. Open the NOMAD address in a browser.
  4. If the named addresses do not respond, find the box IP address in your router device list.

The exact IP address depends on your router. A typical local address may look like http://192.168.1.50:8080.

NOMAD Wi-Fi hotspot

Use this when no home router or internet connection is available.

  1. Open Wi-Fi settings on your phone, tablet, or computer.
  2. Connect to the NOMAD Wi-Fi network shown on the appliance label or quick-start card.
  3. Open the hotspot address in a browser.
  4. If your device shows a Wi-Fi sign-in prompt, open it to reach Project NOMAD.

Your browser may show a local certificate warning. This can happen because the appliance is serving a private offline address.
